This week: The baby could be as long as 20 inches and weigh around 6 pounds! By now, many of the baby's systems are pretty mature, and just about ready for life on the outside. However, digestion won't be fully mature until sometime after birth. He's still pretty active! He usually gets into the same position every night as I'm getting ready for bed and he pretty much stays that way until I get in the shower the next morning.
Weight gain: +2, Total weight gain, +24.
How I'm feeling: I still feel great! By evening time I'm pretty uncomfortable though. He likes to move up under my ribs when I'm sitting, which is not a fun feeling! It's much more comfortable to stand than it is to sit these days!
On Tuesday, Baby Poff and I made our first trip to the Women's Center at the hospital! We had a gas leak that day at school, and after all of our kids were dismissed, and I was finally able to get my purse (before they evacuated everyone from the premises), I called the doctor's office. Dr. Ackerman thought I should go to the hospital for a non-stress test, just to make sure the baby wasn't affected by the gas. So we ended up being put in the bed and strapped down to listen to the baby's heartbeat and measure contractions. I was actually having several contractions (and didn't even know it), so Dr. A wanted me checked to make sure they weren't causing me to dilate. The nurse checked me and said that I was completely closed, so they sent me home. It was quite an exciting afternoon! I was glad to get to go home and rest for the remainder of the evening!
On Thursday we went back to the doctor's office for our 35 week appointment. The baby's heartbeat still sounds good. The doctor checked me again and said that I was dilated a fingertip. He said he still thought it would be a while before Baby Poff will be ready to make his entrance to the world. We were glad to have another good check-up, especially after all of the excitement on Tuesday!
