A BIG Step...for Mommy

During Ethan's fifth week, Mommy (and Daddy) left Ethan for the first time for an extended period of time!  Adam had a work meeting scheduled in Lexington, so I decided to tag along.  The meeting had a dinner that followed, but Adam and I decided to go out to dinner together to make the trip even more special.  Preparing for the trip began about a week earlier when I began getting up in the middle of the night to pump so I would have some milk saved up.  The day of the trip I was feeling both excited and nervous!  I was looking forward to spending the afternoon with my husband, but nervous about leaving my little guy for the first time!  So, to make up for being away from him for so long, we spent the entire morning cuddling!  It was hard for me to get ready because I didn't want to put him down!

Nana (Adam's mom) came over to our house around 1:45 so that Adam and I could leave.  I think I gave Ethan about a hundred kisses before I left!  Adam and I had some good conversations on our way to Lexington (and no, not all of them were about Ethan!).  When we got to Lexington I dropped Adam off at his meeting and then headed to Hamburg to do some shopping.  I must admit, it was really nice to be able to run in and out of stores and not have to lug the car seat everywhere I went!   Most of the shopping that I did was for Ethan (my how times have changed), but I did manage to buy a few small things for myself!  After Adam's meeting we headed to Olive Garden where we enjoyed a nice dinner together.  These date night dinners are going to cause me to gain a lot of weight because I always eat way too much!!!  We left Lexington around 7:00 and we were home by 8:30.  I made it 6 and a half hours without my little boy....and I didn't even shed a single tear!  It was nice to get away and enjoy an afternoon of shopping and dinner!

Here are a couple of pictures of my little guy while I was gone:

As you can tell my little guy was in great hands while we were gone!  He was loved and kissed on the whole time!
