The Secret's Out!

***This post was taken from my teaching blog, but I wanted to show how I shared the news with my students on this blog as well!***

Today was an exciting day for both myself, and my students! I have had some special news to share with them for a while, but I was waiting for just the right time to spill the beans! After much consideration, I felt like today was finally the day!

We began our big surprise by playing a game called "Rivet". We have played this game several times and the kids really love it. In the game, they have to guess the letters to figure out important words. Here are the words that they finally put together:

Next, they had to unscramble the words to make a sentence. This is the sentence that they made:

As they were putting the sentence together, I kept hearing the comment, "This sentence doesn't make sense. There is a word missing." After they had each figured out the sentence I asked them to share what they thought was wrong with it. They all immediately said that it was missing something. I then said, "Well, what word could it be missing?" It didn't take them very long to figure it out! You could see the excitement in their eyes as soon as they finally put the last word in the sentence!

They were so excited about my news! Of course, the first two questions they asked were, "Is it a boy or a girl?" and "What are you going to name it?" After listening to several suggestions for both boy and girl names, I passed out a little treat to celebrate our good news!

It was such an amazing afternoon, and it turned out exactly how I had hoped it would! I'm so glad that I could finally share this exciting news with my class! I'm even more glad that they were just as excited to hear my news as I was to share it!

Our Star Student, Ms. Raven, was here to capture the event:

My class will never know how much it meant to me to be able to share such exciting news with them! Thanks for reading about our big news and celebrating with us!
