12 Weeks

This week:  Starting now, babies begin growing at different paces.  However, the baby should be about three inches long and the size of a peach.  The baby's vocal chords are developing this week.

Weight gain:  Same as last week, +3.

How I'm feeling: Still feeling pretty good.  After our doctor's appointment we will be able to share the news with our friends and family.  Up to this point, we have only shared the news with our parents.  We have some fun things planned to share the news with others!

12 Week Appointment:  We got a good report from the doctor!  He didn't seem too be concerned with my weight gain!  He talked with us about the chances of our baby having several different types of diseases or birth defects.  I think this freaked Adam out a little, but our chances of any of these things happening are so slim.  We had a brief scare during the beginning of our appointment.  The nurse came in to listen to the heartbeat with the fetal doppler, but she couldn't find it.  I, of course, began to panic.  However, our doctor was able to find the baby right away on the ultrasound.  We got to see the baby do a big flop right there on the screen!  The heart was beating strong and everything looked good!
