Anna's First Month

Weight-8 pounds 10 ounces-50th percentile (up from 7.1 at birth)

Length-21 inches-50th percentile (up from 20.5 inches at birth)

Eating-Every 2-2.5 hours.  Since I am nursing her we don't really know how much she is eating.  She eats for about 4-5 minutes on each side.  She latched on easily at birth, and has done a great job ever since!  So far she has taken a bottle one time, and it didn't go so well!  We are going to have to work on that some more before I go back to work! 

Sleep-Anna is sleeping between 4-5 hours for the first stretch at night.  The second stretch is usually between 3-4 hours.  I feed her, burp her, change her, and put her right back to bed.  It takes about 17-20 minutes for all of it!  The best part is that she goes right back to sleep!  During the day she is taking about 5-6 naps a day.  Each nap is usually around 1.5-2 hours.  She loves to be swaddled!  You can tell when she's ready to sleep because she will start to fuss.  Once you swaddle her she calms down.  I've been trying to swaddle her even during her naps so she can get used to it.  I have also been trying to put her in her crib for at least one nap a day.  Right now she is still sleeping in the Rock 'n' Play next to the bed, but once she is sleeping through the night we will move her upstairs.

Other-Anna is such a good baby!  She only cries when she is hungry, tired, or just wants to be held!  She might even be more laid back than Ethan!  At first she hated having her diaper changed, but now it's almost calming for her.  She can be crying when I lay her down, but she will stop once I start changing her!  She does have a fussy time.  It is usually between 8-10 each night.  This is the only time of the day that she will take a paci.  However, she has a hard time keeping it in, so it's a constant job to re-insert the paci to keep her calm.  She also doesn't like getting in her car seat.  Once she's in and it's moving she's fine, but she doesn't like it when you strap her in!  She loves her swing!  She spends most of our meal times in her swing and she's really happy about it!  

Ethan loves his baby sister!  We have to watch him like a hawk though.  He tries to poke her eyes or put his finger in her mouth.  He loves to rock her, but sometimes he's a little rough with her.  He gets so excited to see her when I pick him up from Loffie's.  He doesn't even care about seeing me anymore!  He still calls her "Nena Elizabeth".  He's also really good about showing her all of his toys.  He will say, "Look Nena, it's a _____."  He changes his voice when he talks to her and it's so sweet.  He's such a good big brother!
