Diapers-size 3
Eating-Ethan is finally eating only table food and drinking a sippy cup of whole milk at bedtime. We had a really hard time transitioning to whole milk and sippy cups. I think I tried to do too much at one time, so we started over again and just did one at a time. The first change was adding whole milk to my breast milk. That meant that I was no longer able to nurse him. We started with 6 oz. breast milk and 2 oz. whole milk. After a few days of that we did 4 and 4. Once he adjusted to that we did 6 oz. of whole milk and 2 oz. of breast milk. Once we ran out of breast milk we went to 8 oz. of whole milk. I was starting to get nervous that he wasn't going to take whole milk before we ran out of frozen breast milk! After we got him used to whole milk we began trying to feed him with a sippy cup. I think we bought every kind of sippy cup made before we finally figured out that he likes the ones with the straw, but the straw has to be removed! Now we have a drawer full of sippy cups that he won't use! He loves table food! We still haven't given him nuts or fish. His favorites are fruits and vegetables. We try not to give him too many sweets, in fact he won't eat cake or ice cream at all! He calls everything that isn't served with the main meal a snack. His favorite snacks are still cereal and puffs.
Sleep-Between 11-12 hours a night! He has dropped his morning nap and just takes one 1 1/2-2 hour nap a day. He usually goes down around 1 and will sleep until 3 or so. He doesn't fight his naps at all! In fact, I think he looks forward to them. He still sleeps with his night-night (a burp cloth) and his thumb in his mouth. We talked to the doctor about his thumb sucking and he said that at this age it's still normal and not anything to worry about.
Other-Here are some other fun things that our big boy is now able to do!
- He spent his first time away from Mommy and Daddy in April. He spent the entire week with Gigi and Pappy at their house (including Easter Sunday) in Indiana. Mommy and Daddy went to Hawaii and left the little guy behind. Don't feel too sorry for him though, he gets to go to St. Thomas in July!
- He got a passport! This is for his upcoming trip to St. Thomas. He was such a good boy when we went to apply for it! He sat so big and tall for his picture too!
- He found out that he's going to be a BIG BROTHER! We are expecting our second child, due in January of 2014. We will find out in September if he is going to have a brother or a sister.
- He talks all of the time. The doctor said that by 18 months he should be saying between 15-20 words. He is already over 30! Here is a list of what he can say: mama, dada, nana, pop pop, gigi, hat, eye, ball, please, snack, more, eat, baba, nighty night, quack quack, moo, woof woof, bath, banana, mamaw, car, vroom, no, hot dog, hi, bye. He quickly impresses other people with his vocabulary. He says each of these words very clearly too.
- He can WALK! About two weeks before he turned 15 months he started walking. It began with a little game that he and Daddy played. Daddy would put the ads from the newspaper on the couch, and Ethan would walk over to get them so he could tear them up! It was a really fun game for Daddy and Ethan, but Mommy had to clean the mess up! Oh well, he learned to walk. He is now walking every where. He still stumbles a little, but he is getting much more confident!
- He loves his hats! He knows that he has to put one on before he can go outside. He doesn't bother or play with them once he has it on. I think his Daddy is going to have to find him a UK hat to wear soon!
