On Monday, Ethan watched (and by watched I mean mostly slept) the Cats win the National Championship! I don't know who was more excited...Ethan or his Daddy! In Ethan's 16 days of life he was a part of 4 UK wins, including the national championship! That made his Daddy pretty happy! Needless to say it was a late (and loud) night at our house!
On Tuesday, my cousin, Abbe, drove all the way from Indianapolis to meet out little guy! She even brought dinner with her! Since this was my first week home alone with Ethan, it was really nice to not have to worry about dinner! She made enough that we were able to eat it for a few meals! I really enjoyed visiting with her. It's times like this that I wish my family lived closer! Abbe really enjoyed cuddling with Ethan....I think it was hard for her to leave him! He is such a snuggle bug!
Since I had a c-section I wasn't allowed to drive for 2 weeks. My mom and Adam's mom drove me to where ever I needed to go while they were here. This allowed me to sit in the back seat with Ethan. By Wednesday, I felt confident enough to venture out with Ethan by myself. This would be my first time with Ethan in the back seat and me in the front! I was very nervous and kept thinking, "What am I going to do if he starts crying or spits up?" It's hard to keep an eye on him in the rear view mirror and focus on the road all at the same time! Fortunately Ethan is a wonderful traveler and he didn't make a peep the entire time we were in the car! We decided to go eat lunch with Adam's mom, dad, sister, and niece. It was a nice outing and it felt good to get out of the house! I'm not sure I'm ready to take him shopping yet, but it's good to know that I can take him places on my own!
On Friday, we took Ethan to Lexington for the first time! Adam had the day off since it was Good Friday and we needed to take care of somethings, so we decided to make the trip as a family of 3! Again, he was a wonderful traveler and slept the entire time we were in the car! He was actually really good all day long! (I think he was born to shop with his mommy!) Adam and I go to Lexington all the time, but this trip was very different! We had to schedule everything around his feeding schedule! We left as soon as I fed him, and by the time we got there it was time for him to eat again! This proposed a challenge...where were we going to feed him! We decided to take him to BuyBuy Baby because they had a nursing room. After we finished nursing him we did a little shopping! (I could buy everything in that store!) After we finished shopping we grabbed a bite to eat, before heading to Verizon to look for new phones. Ethan slept in his car seat the whole time we were at Verizon! Our last stop was to look for a new suit for Adam. Ethan and I helped him pick out a suit, and while Adam finished up, Ethan and I headed back to the car for his next feeding. Feeding him in the car was a bit more challenging than I thought it would be! It's just so cramped in there! After we finished feeding him, it was time to head home, before the next feeding! We had a really nice day as a family of 3! It showed Adam and I that we can continue to do the things that we did before he was born, he just gets to be a part of it now!
That night our friends Jeff and Christen came to stay with us. It was also their first time meeting Ethan! They snuggled with our little guy all night long! The next day I prepared "brunch" for the four of us, while Christen held Ethan! It was so nice to have someone to hold him so that I could get a few things done!
That afternoon, my family arrived to celebrate Easter and my niece Rily's third birthday. My nieces were so excited to see Ethan for the first time! They all came in with gifts for Ethan...that each one picked out just for him. It was such a pretty day that we were able to spend most of our time outside. The girls loved running and playing in our backyard! It was nice to just spend time together!
