Eating-Every 3.0-3.5 hours. Since I am nursing him we don't really know how much he is eating, but we think around 6 ounces. He usually eats for about 8-10 minutes at each feeding. I was really hoping to make it to 6 months before we started introducing solid foods, but that didn't happen. Three weeks before Ethan's six month birthday we started him on rice cereal. A few days before that he stopped sleeping through the night. He was waking during the night and was wanting to eat. The doctor said that we didn't have to start solid foods unless milk wasn't satisfying him. We decided it was time to try it. He did really well with his cereal for the first time! We now feed him about an ounce of breast milk mixed with about 2 tablespoons of cereal each evening after his 5:00 feeding.
Sleep-Between 11-12 hours a night! We are still swaddling him at night, but his babysitter hasn't been swaddling him for his naps during the day. Instead, she is giving him his blanket and he loves to put it up next to his face. He is taking about three 45 minute naps each day (sometimes a little longer). He is usually awake for about 2-2 1/2 hours in between naps. I'm hoping that we can combine his naps to get maybe one or two really good ones, but we will see!
Other-Ethan is such a happy boy! He just smiles all of the time! He still loves to be on the go and around other people. I think this is why he is doing so well at the babysitter's. The other two little girls there just adore him. He gets kisses and hugs all day long! It's such a good feeling to know that my baby is being loved on even when I'm not there. He is also doing so much better with his tummy time! He is still rolling over, but sometimes he will go a few days where he acts like he doesn't know how. Then the next day he will roll over as soon as you lay him on his belly! He is such a little stinker!
A few weeks ago Ethan began to notice the tv remote control. He has become obsessed with trying to put it in his mouth. I got online and found a baby toy that resembles a remote control. We gave it to Ethan for his "6 Month Birthday" and he loves it! Adam has the real remote on one arm of the chair and his remote on the other. Ethan loves to reach over and grab for it and press all of the buttons. We also bought Ethan a "Sophie the Giraffe". This has quickly become one of his favorite toys! This toy is one of the most popular teething toys available, and I can see why! Ethan loves putting it in his mouth! He will sit in his high chair while we eat dinner and play and play with his toys!
This past month we had some overnight visitors. Ethan was so excited to have his girlfriend, Emily, and their family spend the weekend with us. Our other friends, Jeff and Christen, stayed the night with us too! We had 6 adults, 2 babies, and 2 dogs! It was so much fun! We played games, ate some yummy food, watched some football, and just had a really good time. I'm so glad that we were able to have them all stay the night at our house. Overnight guests are the best!!!
Here are some of my favorite pictures of my sweet six month old baby!
